Материалы, обеспеч. эффективное испускание (эмиссию) эл-нов под влиянием внеш. воздействий. Широко использ. в электровакуумных приборах. Для термоэмиссии, создав, с помощью нагрева, в кач-ве э. м. используют W, Та, W + (1-2) % ThO2, сплавы Ir с La и Се, Pt или Pd с Ва и др. Для вторичной эмиссии, возник. при бомбардировке эл-нами, наиб. эффективными э. м. явл. системы, включ. металлы и кислород. К ним относятся сплавы на основе Ni и Сu, содерж. неб. кол-ва Mg, Be, сплавы на основе Pd и Pt с Ва, Аl с Li и Mg. В эти металлич. сплавы вводят кислород путем нагрева в окислит. среде. Используют также композиц. материалы, содержащие оксиды Аl, Ва, ЩЗМ и РЗМ в тугоплавкой металлич. матрице. Для воздействия сильного электрического поля без подогрева катода, используют W, сплав W с Zr, LaB6, эвтектики, получ. путем направленной кристаллизации. Для холодных катодов газоразрядных ламп, испуск. эл-ны при бомбардировке ионами инертных газов, используют Mo, Ni, Fe, сплавы Аl и Mg.
